I speculate bad apples or throwing them under the wagon like T. Bowden did his asst. coaches. Funny that Bowden is still there underachieving.

All of those guys except Farr underachieved--I actually think he broke some team rules and that he's kicked off the team b/c he didn't make the trip for the last game at BC.

Also, Freeman and Stewart already have their degrees, and it's only optional for the team to keep them on scholarship after they get their degrees if they redshirted a year and are coming back for a 5th year of eligibility, which would hold up more scholarships for incoming guys, and would be taken up by two guys in Freeman & Stewart who have shown that they just can't cut it consistently.

Mabry & Daly were signing errors by Coker, Daly was rejected by FSU and couldn't earn a scholly there, and Mabry has always been oversized and had major problems controlling his weight enough to play FB in the offensive systems. Continued weight problems probably showed Mabry the door, and the fact that Shannon didn't want more than 2 kickers on the roster next year (Miami's looking to sign a kicker out of Illinois, Jake Wieclaw, to handle place kicking while Bosher punts) probably put Daly out the door.

Charlie Jones was a good back, but was injured since the end of last year and never saw the field this year due to injury as well. He's finished his degree as well though he could have applied for a medical redshirt year to be applied to this past season and come back and play next year.

ALSO--on top of those guys, Doug Wiggins, a freshman CB, won't be returning to Miami. He'll be likely transferring to Western Michigan. He really didn't fit in with the team, he complained a lot about not getting PT even though the knock on him was he wasn't picking up the schemes even with him being an early enrollee last year.

So, there's 7 schollys that are open for this upcoming recruiting class, and it's rumored that Shannon's not done with cutting guys off the team to bring more talented younger guys in there--there could be up to 7 more transfers/schollys not reupped.

Jimmy Johnson used to do the same thing, Shannon's taking a page out of his book. Johnson was cutting guys that didn't cut it, but Shannon doing it these days will be characterized as "throwing kids under the bus". Go figure...to kind of dispell that a little bit, allow me to let everyone know that though Shannon has said he didn't foresee any changes to the staff, there are already rumblings that guys like Tim Walton (Def. Coord.), Clint Hurtt (DL Coach), and Marquis Mosely (WR Coach) should not be secure in their jobs, it's likely changes will come.

Echoing that sentiment. You could throw a WR that has never played the position in at QB and I promise you he couldn't be worse. He may be just as bad, but there is no worse than Freeman.

Doug Wiggins, who signed with Miami-FL as part of its Class of 2007 as an ESPN 150 recruit, was dismissed from the team in October, will not rejoin the squad, and is looking to transfer, ESPN affiliate InsideTheU.com reports. He's slated to visit Western Michigan this weekend.
Wiggins enrolled early in January but was sitting out this season as a redshirt. According to InsideTheU.com, "His time at UM was hardly smooth as he got into a fight with teammate Anthony Reddick, walked out on practice, and was seen wearing a Florida State hat a week leading up to the big rivalry game."

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Junior tight end DajLeon Farr led the team with three receiving touchdowns.

After meeting with coach Randy Shannon this week, Farr will not return for his senior season and is looking to transfer.

"I have been released," Farr said. "We had a good conversation and just feel this would be the best thing for me with everything that is going on at home, I felt I needed to be close to my family."

Farr said it was "personal reasons" in regards to what is going on back in Houston, Texas.

"I want to go somewhere kind of close to home and close to family," said Farr, who is scheduled to graduate in December 2008.

Farr is open to transferring to a Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) or Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) program and said he is not concerned with playing time.

Miami is left with tight ends Chris Zellner, Dedrick Epps, and Richard Gordon on the roster.

Farr started four games this season, catching six passes for 104 yards and three touchdowns.

He played in 11 games, but did not travel to Boston College for the final game of the season.

"It was just something that went on," Farr said.

He played in 29 games at Miami and had 10 catches for 134 yards and three touchdowns. As a senior at Galena Park in 2004, he was one of the top-rated tight end prospects in the country and was a top 100 recruit.

"I've had some opportunities to do a few things at a great place and it's been an experience being here."

Farr originally committed to LSU during the recruiting process, but opened up his recruitment when Nick Saban took the Miami Dolphins job.
